Theodoulos Vakanas: Biography

Theodoulos completed his Bachelor in Music at Berklee College of Music, and later obtained a Master's Degree at the New England Conservatory in Improvisation, both in Boston. During his studies he gained a lot of performing experience in different styles of music, including classical, jazz-swing, middle-eastern, Turkish, Greek and Cypriot. He performed and recorded with many artists and ensembles : Greek music ensemble, Dunya Organization, Savvas Houvartas, Giannis Theotokis, Mario Fraggoulis, and many others. He recently recorded bouzouki, tzoura and baglama in the soundtrack for the feature film "Oikopedo 12" (2013). His playing includes a lot of improvisation in the above styles. He currenty lives in Cyprus teaching and performing. He is also recording bouzouki and violin weekly on a CYBC TV show.
